Received quickly Jun 12, 2010 This movie was received quicker than expect. My son is handicapped and it can be frustrating for him when it comes to waiting for movies.
A mediocre 3rd entry to an otherwise great series Apr 04, 2010 I'll admit it. I loved Spy Kids 1 & 2. The cameos, the tongue in cheek humor, the gadgets... it was a nice alternative to some of the other kids movies out there. Then there was Spy Kids 3. Since there are already over a hundred reviews out here, I figure that you don't need me to rehash the plot synopsis.
The general premise of the film was interesting enough. A villain in a computer has kidnapped Carmen & Juni has to go save her via a computer game. The film just didn't live up to my expectations. While I don't exactly expect intricate story lines in the Spy Kids flicks, this one was fairly weak in comparison to the previous two films in the series. The whole point of the film seemed to be to push the 3-D, which unfortunately wasn't very good. I know that 3-D during that time was limited & that a film in a theater can't compare to something seen in a theater specifically set up to play 3-D films, but the 3-D was bad in the theaters. It was even worse when I later purchased the DVD set to complete my collection. There just wasn't a lot of dimension to the 3-D & for the most part there was a lot of straining by all of us in an attempt to see the 3-D. (And in case you were asking, yes- the room was dark & we took every precaution to use the glasses & whatnot.)
My nephews still liked the movie, but they didn't really love it as much as they did the first films, so in that aspect their opinions mirrored mine. I'd purchased this set in the week it was released & viewing it years later, the film really hasn't aged all that well. I would still recommend this to parents looking for something fairly wholesome to show to their kids. (There's some violence, but none of it is really all that bad in comparison to what most of them see in videogames & TV.)
I would give this set 3 stars because the films were entertaining enough, but I had to lower it to 2 stars because the 3-D still stinks & without the 3-D, the film just isn't all that great.
Spy Kids 3-D Game Over (Two-Disc Collector's Series) Jan 29, 2010 Under-age agents Juni and Carmen Cortez set out on their newest most mind-blowing mission yet: journeying inside the virtual reality world of a 3-D video game designed to outsmart them, as the awe-inspiring graphics and creatures of gaming come to real life. Relying on humor, gadgetry, bravery, family bonds and lightning-quick reflexes, the Spy Kids must battle through tougher and tougher levels of the game, facing challenges that include racing against road warriors and surfing on boiling lava, in order to save the world from a power hungry villain. Down with your little ones ready for the game of their lives, cuz `Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over' will tickle their little bitty funny bones. With all its wild-riding and fun, Spy Kids 3D is just a movie for kids, but if you still have a little kid left inside of you, then watch it with them.
Spy Kids 3D Major Letdown! Jan 25, 2010 Robert Rodriguez has made movies in the past that I loved. Desperado, Sin City, From Dusk Til Dawn. The 1st Spy Kids movie. These films
had good plots, good acting and were original. It showed me that he was a major talent. Spy kids 3d shows me that Mr. Rodriguez has put
his talent on the back burner in exchange for the almighty buck. The 3d is a joke. Sly Stallone is just sad to watch. Alexa Vega(the other half of the Spy Kids) doesn't show up until the last half hour of the movie and Antonio Banderas and the rest of the Spy Kids cast from other movies don't show up until the last 10 minutes! Mr. Rodriguez needs to return to his roots and make films about people
interacting with each other and hang up the green screen until he starts Sin City 2.
great Jan 25, 2010 wonderful - kids love it - they had the first two and I figured they would like the third and i was right
